I’ve finished my angel for Christmas and my dad loved her. I’m really happy with how she came out. I still have a lot to learn, but as my first completed sculpture, I think she looks beautiful. It was difficult, but I really enjoyed it. Now on to the next project :D
Welp, learned a big lesson here. Attach the head while you’re fleshing it out. Otherwise this happens… Not too big of a deal though, I just have to beef the body up a little bit. But I feel like it’s coming along.
She’s finally got some flesh, but there’s still a lot of work to do!
HERE’S A FACE!
I still have to add the ears, (which should be another challenge), and do some finessing, but it’s a face!
Well, better keep working! More later!
Long time no see! Sorry I haven’t been posting much of anything, but I’ve been dealing with some personal issues as an artist. But I feel like I’m finally heading in the right direction, slowly, but surely.
So here is my first project that I’ve started! I know, right now it just looks like a freaky alien, but it’s a start. Lately I’m being driven to do some sculpting so I decided I would make an angel for my father for Christmas (Shhh~ It’s a surprise). I’ll be sure to post more pictures of the process as I go along. This is the first of a few sculptures I have planned and I’ll tell you all more about those later.
This piece I did for my mentorship with Howard Lyon. He was a great mentor and I feel like my digital painting really improved while working with him. It’s a mock book cover, called ‘Song Bird’. I’ve also learned that I really enjoy doing book covers and it gives me something to work on.
Here it is! Finally~ My Senior Thesis. They are book plates for a collection of Hans Christian Andersen’s stories. I tried to go with the darker side of these stories, like how fairy tales used to be… I’ve learned a lot with this project and it’s a style I think I can work at and improve.
And I have limited edition prints for sale too!
Random ‘one page’ comic we had to do for class. It’s probably one of my better pages, but I still think it needs some more attention to details. Also did hand lettering, which is why it looks like poop haha. But all in all I’m pretty happy with it. I hope to get more practice in this summer and start a webcomic :)
School is slowly eating away at my soul, but here’s a WIP of my Thesis! It’s a insert page for The Little Mermaid. I’m doing inset cover pages for Hans Christian Andersen stories. I’ll be posting more as I go along…
Sorry it’s taken me so long to update anything. I’ve got a lot of my plate for this last semester along with some other troubles (like getting my car windows broken in twice in a week). But I’m back on track now and I’ll try to post more, especially the process of my thesis.
This piece was a project for my Type As Art class. We had to take an element and think of a word or phrase that embodies that element and create and illustration around it. Obviously mine was Earth, and I found a very interesting quote that I thought was very fitting to the idea that nature is a cycle of life and death. And while it’s beautiful, its also very sad. It’s also symbolic that we are losing touch with nature.
This is a new method for me to include the line art into the painting. It still needs some work but I’m hoping to really try this for my thesis.
